5. Conclusion In this paper, solar-air series heat pump (SA-SHP), solar-air parallel heat pump (SA-PHP) and air-solar series heat pump (AS-SHP) with the identical components and different heat source configurations have been presented and compared in this paper.
The role of air source evaporator and solar evaporator in each system is discussed. The annual and economic performance is evaluated in different climatic regions. The concept of solar-air dual source heat pump has been proposed to overcome the limitations of single source heat pump system.
For the SAHP, the combined application of solar and air thermal energy not only provides a viable solution for the efficiency boost of the air-source heat pump in the low-temperature environment, but also compensates for the inherent instability of solar collectors as a heat source .
Huan et al. proposed a solar-assisted heat pump system (SAHP) that can work in serial or parallel mode. The annual average COP value is 5.7, and the series–parallel system is 3.3 and 4.3, respectively. Compared with the series–parallel system, the combined system has a significant energy-saving effect.
